Before wrapping up their first semester of school, SDK Plus PENABUR Cirebon students must finish their final test first to review all the material they have learned throughout the semester. All students and teachers have put their hard work into reviewing the materials and finishing up the graded work as they prepare for the final test week. Although all the effort had been put in weeks before, everyone knew that their final test wouldn’t come easily without God’s helping hand.
On Friday, 24th November 2023, the school held a Final Test Service for all the students and teachers to praise the Lord altogether before the first day of the final test on Monday, 27th November 2023. The service was led by grade 6A with Richelle and Noah as the MC, Felix as the guitarist, Cheryl and Jeshley as the pianist with the help of Miss Meylinda, and the rest of the class members as the worship leader.
Richelle and Noah opened the devotions cheerfully to greet all the students in the school hall. Before the service started, they invited Wilbert to help with the opening prayer, which was later followed by singing several praises such as ‘I Wanna Be More Like You’. Everyone danced and sang together along to the song as they praised the Lord with all their heart, along with 6A class members who took turns in groups to lead the song and choreography.
Soon after, everyone sat back down and prepared their heart to listen to God’s word which was delivered by Pdt. Pramudia. Mr Pramudia took the bible verse from Rome 12:12, “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” (NIV). He told a story about a girl named Daniella who planted a tree. She constantly waters the plant and gives it fertilizer. Even if it took long and sometimes the plant didn’t seem to grow, eventually it became fruitful because Daniella put all her beliefs into the tree.
The short story reminded everyone in the hall to believe in themselves and also in God as they progressed at school. Mr Pramudia highlighted that even though the test may seem tough, everyone should always be patient and constantly pray, asking for God’s guidance, for them to do their best in every subject during the final test week.
Before wrapping up the devotion, Mr Yosia as the headmaster also gave a short reminder to every student to get enough sleep and rest, to reduce their playing time, and to review all their notes during the final test week. He wishes everyone good luck for the final test, and may everyone get good grades later. Finally, Mr Pramudia got back to the stage to give blessings to every student and lead us in a closing prayer before going home.
Not only to share positive energy with the students before their final test and give space for the talented students to gain experience in taking part in a service, SDK Plus PENABUR Cirebon also hopes that the short service could be a nice reminder to everyone about patient, hope, and belief to Jesus Christ.
